Virat Kohli cements himself as no.1 Test batsman; Bumrah and Shami gain big in latest Test rankings

Virat Kohli scored his 25th Test ton in Perth | GettyIndia’s captain Virat Kohli consolidated his ranking as the no.1 Test batsman in the latest ICC Test batsmen rankings after his brilliant century in Perth Test against Australia.

Kohli hit 123 runs in the first innings and it helped Kohli accumulate 14 points and reach a total of 934, three away from his career-best Test rating points. Virat Kohli extends his lead over second-ranked Kane Williamson from seven to 19 points.

Meanwhile, second place Kane Williamson reached his personal best of 915 points, the joint-25th highest ever and equal with ICC Hall of Famer George Headley of the West Indies.

Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami also gained some significant traction in the ICC Test rankings. Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah reached career-best rankings of 48th and 28th place respectively.

vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane moved up two places to 15th, while Mohammad Shami moved up two places to 24th.

Meanwhile, Nathan Lyon's eight wickets helping grab a career-best seventh place, Josh Hazlewood moved to 9th spot, and Mitchell Starc reached 15th spot.
