Cricket legend Kapil Dev has asked the Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) to recuse him from interviewing Manoj Prabhakar for the top role of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team head coach.

The former Indian captain led three-member selection panel -Anshuman Gaekwad and Shanta Rangaswamy will be interviewing the 10 applicants, including India's World Cup-winning coach Gary Kirsten in Mumbai on Thursday (December 20).

They will be given the responsibility to shortlist the suitable candidate for the Head coach’s role, which has been vacant since Ramesh Powar's tenure ended at the end of last month on a bitter note.

Meanwhile, India Today reported that the top BCCI sources have revealed to the channel that the World Cup-winning skipper Kapil informed the Board that he doesn't wish to be part of the interview process when Prabhakar presents his case on Thursday.

Noteworthy, Prabhakar had accused the legendary all-rounder of match-fixing but he was cleared of all charges.

On the other hand, Powar is among those 10 candidates who have thrown their hat in the ring, despite Mithali Rahi's serious allegations against him following India's semi-final exit from World T20.

While Brad Hogg, Dimitri Mascarenhas, Trent Johnston, and Herschell Gibbs, WV Raman, Venkatesh Prasad, Kalpana Venkatacher are the other applicants who will be interviewed for next women's coach.
