Legendary India captain Kapil Dev on Tuesday (December 18) said that he will run shirtless if Virat Kohli and company lift the ICC Cricket World Cup at Lord’s next year.

The World Cup starts on May 30 with South Africa taking on hosts England, while the two-time World champions India begin their campaign on June 5 against South Africa at Southampton.

"I will run shirtless if India win the World Cup. Just like Kohli said that he will run shirtless if India win, I will too. I can do anything for my country," Kapil Dev said at Agenda Aaj Tak 2018.

Earlier this year, Kohli had promised to take his shirt off and run on Oxford Street if India win the 2019 World Cup in England.

When asked who would win the marquee event, Kapil confessed that his heart and head have the same name.

"My heart says India can win the World Cup, my head is saying India need to play good cricket to win," Kapil said.

Former India opener Sunil Gavaskar, who was also there in the event, said that the current Indian team has it in them to lift the coveted trophy.

"The World Cup is coming to India. This Indian team have all the ingredients to win the World Cup," Gavaskar asserted.

Gavaskar was also very optimistic of celebrating the golden jubilee celebration of that famous World Cup win in 1983.

"Fingers crossed, toes crossed that we will celebrate the golden jubilee of 1983 win," he concluded.
