Mohammad Mithun and Mohammad Saifuddin have made it to the Bangladesh T20 International squad, as Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) named the 15-man squad on Friday (December 14) for the three-match T20I series against the West Indies at home.

Abu Jayed failed to make it to the squad, while Sabbir Rahman’s six-month ban has offered the opportunity to the batsman Mosaddek Hossain to return to the national squad for the home series.

The 27-year-old Mithun got the nod for the West Indies T20Is on the back of his impressing batting show in his debut Test against Zimbabwe last month and in the 2018 Asia Cup in Dubai.

Minhajul Abedin, Bangladesh's Chief Selector, told Cricbuzz on Friday, “We have included Mithun as we need a batsman down the order. There is a gap down the order so we needed to fill it with a batsman and Mithun recently is having a good run with the bat.”

Meanwhile, Saifuddin has returned to Bangladesh T20I squad after a gap of 10-month, as the 22-year-old pace bowling all-rounder played the last T20I against Sri Lanka in February earlier this year after his impressive show with the ball in the recently concluded ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Abedin signed off by saying, “We opted for Saifuddin as the team management demanded an all-rounder, an out-and-out pace bowler, and that is the reason Abu Jayed had to make way for Saifuddin. We are keeping an eye on Mosaddek as he just played in Emerging Cup. We don't want to rush with him.”

Bangladesh T20I Squad:

Shakib Al Hasan (Captain), Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar, Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahmudullah (Vice Captain), Rubel Hossain, Mustafizur Rahman, Mehidy Hasan, Nazmul Islam, Mohd. Mithun, Mohd. Saifuddin, Abu Hider Rony, Ariful Haque
