Shane Watson, a swashbuckling star all-rounder and one of the greatest T20 campaigners across the globe, has insisted on Thursday (December 13) that he has a lot of passion to fire up in the game of cricket, dismissing the talks about his T20 retirement after upcoming Big Bash League (BBL).

The Australian cricketer further went on to insist that he still feels like a young man and whenever to feel, he couldn’t contribute “that’ll definitely be the day”, saying he is able to play in the franchise tournaments across the world at the moment.

Ever since his retirement from international cricket in 2016, Watson has been managing to travel across the globe having featured in the Indian Premier League, Pakistani Super League, Caribbean Premier League and this year traveled to the United Arab Emirates for the T10 League.

However, the 37-year-old is well aware of the fact that his time in the game is winding down, but he wants to be part of the action on the field as long as he’s contributing until hindered by injury, the Australian cricketer wants to continue to play in the T20 tournaments across the world.

Watson told AAP, “My mind’s open. To be able to play in some of these tournaments around the world, it’s so much fun. Also, I’ve experienced life outside of cricket. Cricket is what I know better than everything. While I can really contribute on the field from a skills point of view, as a senior player and I’m still loving it, my mind’s open to continuing to play.”

He continued, “But if there comes a point where that real enjoyment is starting to wane and I’m not able to contribute like I know I can, then that’ll definitely be the day.”

On his physical fitness, Watson doesn’t like his body is breaking down and he couldn’t continue playing, as there were a lot of questions throughout his international career about his body’s ability to hold up - back stress fractures, hamstring, calf, hip shoulder problems ruled him out of game many times.

Watson signed off by saying, “Physically it’s always been a challenge anyway, so that hasn’t changed.”
