India A continued their winning ways in the ongoing unofficial ODI series against NZ A, by winning the second match by 5 wickets. This win also gave India A an unassailable lead of 2-0 in the 3-match series against New Zealand A.
India A won the toss and chose to bowl first. Despite two cheap wickets of Hamish Rutherford (8) and captain Corey Anderson (0); George Worker’s 99 with 8 fours and 1 six and Will Young’s 102 with 6 fours and 3 sixes and their 109-run partnership aided NZ A’s score towards 300 plus.
But Navdeep Saini (2/68) and Khaleel Ahmed (2/65) pegged NZ A back, however, Daryl Mitchell (45) and Cole McConchie (21) took the team to 299/9 in 50 overs.
India A got a decent start with openers Agarwal and Gill making 25 runs apiece and Shreyas Iyer making 59 runs. However, the innings that took India A to its victory was captain Manish Pandey’s 111* with 5 fours and 3 sixes, as he scored runs at a good pace.
He was aided by Vijay Shankar’s 59, as India A registered a win by 5 wickets with an over to go. This win also gave India A 2-0 lead over the hosts in the 3-match unofficial ODI series.
