Young Jamaican batsman, Rovman Powell is all set to lead West Indies in the upcoming One Day International series against Bangladesh, starting from Sunday (December 9) in Dhaka.

On Wednesday (December 5), Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that regular skipper Jason Holder was ruled out of the ODI series due to the shoulder injury.

CWI has also named a 15-member squad for the Bangladesh ODIs, recalling Darren Bravo, Roston Chase and Carlos Brathwaite to the squad for the three-match One Day series against the Tigers.

West Indies have also boosted with the return of Darren Bravo, and Courtney Browne, Chairman of National Selectors welcomed the southpaw back to the side.

Meanwhile, Bravo, who will return to ODI folds after a gape of around two years, has not good run in the white-ball game despite playing 94 ODIs for West Indies.

Courtney said, “In the absence of captain Jason Holder, the panel believes the team can still be competitive, especially with the return of Darren Bravo. Darren's experience will add value to the batting, which in turn will place selection pressure for spots in the squad.”

On the other hand, Powell had an average outing in the recent India ODI series, having managed only 61 runs in five innings, but was impressive in the just-concluded T10 League, scoring 177 runs at a strike rate of 226.92, including a 25-ball 61 in the final to led Northern Warriors to title victory.
