West Indian swashbuckling cricketer Chris Gayle admitted on Tuesday (December 4) that it is quite difficult to move from league to league across the globe and now he wants to make things simpler for himself in the future.

Gayle, who is the most-traveled cricketer ever, is currently in South Africa for his stint with the Jozi Stars in the ongoing Mzansi Super League –a T20 franchise event of the rainbow nation.

The left-hander has been facing a hectic schedule especially in term of traveling, and as he first played in the Afghanistan Premier League in Sharjah in October, when he played the first match of the Jozi Stars’ Mzansi Super League in South Africa and then went back to the UAE.

Now, the 39-year-old has returned to South Africa from the T10 League on Sunday to continue his stint with the Stars in the Proteas T20 League and then will fly Australia for Big Bash League (BBL).

Meanwhile, Gayle has been part of the almost all the cricket leagues in the world and has traveled 2.03 million km in his career, featuring in 869 first-class matches, including List A and T20 matches so far. He made his first-class debut for Jamaica in 1998.  

Gayle told ESPNCricinfo, “In the future, I’m looking forward to things being a bit simpler for me, from a personal point of view. It’s not so easy, to be honest with you. Especially at this age as well. You jump on a flight, and then you jump on a cricket field. But in a way you manage yourself, and I have a great team that keeps the body ready to perform up to standard and I’ve been doing this for years.”

He signed off by saying, “You make the necessary adjustment as quickly as possible, and take it from there. It’s not a big issue. It’s not a big concern for me at this point in time, to be honest.”
