The downfall of MS Dhoni has made everyone question his ability to dominate the game like he used to do before.

The harsh criticism he received this year was after a flat performance in the international circuit. He may have had a good Indian Premier League (IPL) season in 2018, but his bat refused to mirror that performance in the top level cricket.

In 2018, once considered as ODI specialist, Dhoni failed to score a single half-century. His average was way below than his overall average.

Recently, the 37-year-old was discarded from the Indian T20I side after selectors decided to try Rishabh Pant over him. The veteran is still in the ODI squad but his removal from the T20I side indicated that performance matters a lot.

While many spoke against Dhoni, some also came in his favor. The latest one to defend the former Indian captain is his Chennai Super Kings teammate Dwayne Bravo.

Bravo still rates Dhoni as one of the best players in the world. He added that the veteran cricketer has proved it now and then. He also said it's on MS to decide when to leave the shorter format.

"No. Someone like him can never be over until he decides it's over. There are always talks around, and people call for different players' heads at different times. It is up to the player. I think MS has proven, even in this year's IPL he has proven, again and again, that he is still the best in the world and he will decide when it is his time. No one decides when it is his time," Bravo was quoted as saying by Sportskeeda

Bravo recently bid adieu to international cricket. He will only play cricket in T20 leagues around the world. The all-rounder had already announced retirement from Test cricket back in 2015.
