Rutherford century and lower order runs from NZ A frustrates India A on day 3

New Zealand A declared on 458/9 in reply to India's 467/8d.

K Gowtham picked 3 wickets while Chahar and Saini picked two each

Third Day of the first four-dayer at Tauranga between India A and New Zealand saw Indian bowlers bringing the team back into the game, albeit with the home team pressing the advantage with a score of 458/9d.

Hamish Rutherford scored 114 and was castled by Deepak Chahar, while Siraj took care of Seifert. More wickets from Navdeep Saini and Chahar helped NZ A slip from 185/1 to 211/5.

However, then the NZ A tail wagged as Doug Bracewell (48) and Kyle Jamieson (30) added 65 runs for the sixth wicket. With 346/8, India A might have hoped for a quick finish to the innings, but Rance and Ticker added another 83 runs to frustrate the Indian bowlers. Seth Rance hit 69* in 57 balls which included four fours and four sixes, while Ticker remained unbeaten on 30 and NZ A declared on 458/9.

Gowtham was the pick of the bowlers finishing with 3/107 in 42 overs while Chahar and Saini chipped in with two wickets apiece.

By the time stumps were called for Prithvi Shaw had already raced to an unbeaten 33 in 26 balls with 7 fours and had M Vijay for company on 2* as India A finished on 35/0 after 8 overs.
