Former Australia cricketer Ryan Harris is confident that Peter Handscomb will do well in the longest format of the game if the batsman is recalled to the Australia Test squad this summer.

The wicket-keeper batsman is currently out of national colors since being dropped from the last Ashes campaign, but the right-hander has been in good touch in the domestic circuit, averaging 51.57 in the one-day cup and scored a century against South Australia last week in the ongoing Sheffield Shield.

The former pacer, who is regarded as one of Australia's most highly rated fast bowlers, believes that the 27-year-old Victorian man has now ironed out the flaws in his game last summer and is well prepared to make the most of his next opportunity at the international arena.

Harris told SEN on Monday (November 12), “I think he (Handscomb) would be one I would like to see in there. He’s done a lot of work on his technique; he’s done a lot of work on his game.”

He signed off by saying, “He’s gone away and made quite a few runs. He made a hundred in Shield cricket and four or five fifties in a row in JLT, so he’s probably one who could potentially come in.”

Noteworthy, Handscomb will have an opportunity to stake his claim for Test selection during the next Sheffield Shield encounter against Tasmania, starting on Saturday (November 17).
