Jason Roy extremely excited about the Mzansi Super League

The tournament will get underway from November 16 .

England batsman Jason Roy is extremely excited being a part of the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League and is confident that the South African T20 tournament will have a “huge future”.

The 28-year-old right-hander is hoping to make a big impact in the tournament and believes that his young team –Nelson Mandela Bay Giants has all potential to win the T20 event here.

The franchise tournament will get underway from November 16 while the Giants will kick off their campaign against Jozi Stars at Bidvest Wanderers Stadium on November 17 (Saturday).

Roy, who is an international marquee player in the league, is eager to join the Giants teammates whom the Englishman at the end of the Mzansi tournament in the rainbow nation.

He said, “I am extremely excited about the tournament and being a part of it all. I am sure it’s got a huge future. I am eager to meet my teammates. I believe this is a good side…with such a strong squad and exciting young players, I don’t see why we can’t go all the way (and win the tournament). Twenty over cricket is all about momentum, so hopefully, we will start well and get some good confidence early.”

Besides Roy, Giants has international stars Ben Duckett, Sisanda Magala, Jon-Jon Smuts and Christiaan Jonker in the line-up but the Durban-born Roy will be in the spotlight being one of the most sought-after limited overs players across the globe.

Roy signed off by saying, “I am feeling good. It has been a busy summer and I’ve played a fair amount of cricket leading into the Mzansi Super League, so I am hopeful of having a big impact.”
