Virat Kohli clarifies why he said Indian fans who support foreign cricketers should 'leave India'

Kohli has been slammed for his comments across social media.

Indian captain, Virat Kohli has been in the firing line ever since a video rolled out on Twitter of him replying back to his fans after launching his official app. In the video, Virat read the message posted by the fan, “He is an overrated batsman. Nothing seems special in his batting. I enjoy watching English and Australian batsman more than these Indians.”

Virat shot back at the fan saying, “I don’t think you should live in India, go and live somewhere else. Why are you living in our country and loving other countries? I don’t mind you not liking me, but I don’t think you should live in our country and like other things. Get your priorities right.”

Virat Kohli has been slammed for his 'insensitive' remarks by fans and the media, as well as the noted cricket expert Harsha Bhogle. It is being said that a player of Kohli's stature should have thought twice before saying anything like that. Incidently, Virat's favourite batsman in his childhood days used to be Herschelle Gibbs.

Virat has finally issued a clarification over the matter on his official Twitter account. He suggests his words were taken out of context and he was only objecting to the use of 'these Indians' by the fan. He tweeted, "I guess trolling isn't for me guys, I'll stick to getting trolled! I spoke about how "these Indians" was mentioned in the comment and that's all. I’m all for freedom of choice. Keep it light guys and enjoy the festive season. Love and peace to all."
