Stokes told reporters, “It’s a fantastic opportunity for some of Durham’s young guys to gain invaluable experience, learn about other cultures and play high-level cricket on some good pitches. I remember going on the trip as a teenager with Durham and really enjoying the experience, it taught me a lot about myself as a cricketer and as a person and I’m delighted to have been able to help out.”

Meanwhile, Durham County Cricket Club, Academy Director, John Windows, said about the competition, “We’re delighted to be once again heading out to Dubai for the Gulf Cup and giving a range of u16’s a chance to compete in a different environment.”

Windows signed off by saying, “This is a top-quality tournament and the boys get a chance to experience sub-continent conditions. It’s a lovely gesture from Ben to help out in such a big way financially and we will certainly ensure that the money is put to good use and furthers the development of our talented youngsters.”
