Having made a comeback from surgery on his knee and started running, left-hand batsman Usman Khawaja has said that he is confident of fully recovering and turning up for Australia's first Test of the home summer at Adelaide against India, starting December 6. 

Twisting his left knee during fielding drills before the start of play on Day 3 of the second Test against Pakistan in Abu Dhabi, Khawaja, who scored 85 and 141 in the drawn Test at Dubai, couldn't manage to come out at his usual opening slot due to the injury, which was later revealed, after scans on Thursday, October 17, to have seriously aggravated. 

Khawaja was seen hobbling his way off the field before play and while it didn't look like as too serious an issue at the time, the 31-year-old couldn't take the field for the entire duration. 

In the absence of Steve Smith and David Warner, an inform Khawaja is very very important for Australia for the all-important Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India. 

“I’m 10 kilograms lighter than I was in South Africa maybe seven months ago, so I’m sure that helps the knees in some respects,” Khawaja told cricket.com.au, “My recovery is going really well so far. I’m trying to keep it cool, but it’s actually going really well."

The 31-year-old further informed, "I feel like I’m a little bit ahead of where I should be," and signed off with, "If I keep doing the little things right -- looking after my body, being disciplined -- hopefully that’ll transition to me coming back in time."

The website also confirmed that there's a chance Khawaja could play in Queensland’s Sheffield Shield game against Victoria starting November 27.
