The ICC Women’s World T20 2018 is about to get underway in the Caribbean and warm-up matches are going on. Indian women’s team too played their first warm-up game against England women at Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Indian women won the toss and Harmanpreet Kaur chose to bat first. After Mithali Raj (18) and Smriti Mandhana (13) gave a start to the team, Jemimah Rodrigues (21) and Deepti Sharma (18) supported skipper Harmanpreet, as she took on the English bowlers with a smashing 62* off 32 balls with 6 fours and 3 sixes. India scored 144/6 in their 20 overs.
Anya Shrubsole (2/28) and Heather Knight (2/9) were the most successful bowlers for England.
In the chase, only Danielle Wyatt managed 54 off 53 balls, as none of the other batswomen went past 20. Lauren Windfield was the next highest scorer with 19 and England were restricted to 133/8 in 20 overs.
For India women, Poonam Yadav picked 3/20, while Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma took 2 wickets each.
