Gautam Gambhir slams the AAP government and asks them to take responsibility of pollution crisis in Delhi

Gautam Gambhir has been always vocal about his opinions on social media.

Residents of Delhi have been asphyxiated due to tremendous pollution

India’s capital Delhi is currently struggling with immense pollution and smog which has made the place a living hell for the residents. India cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who himself hails from Delhi, has called for the incumbent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to take responsibility for the same.

As quoted by the Quint, "..Obviously, me being a Delhi boy, it is my responsibility to talk about it (poor air pollution)...... I am not a politician. I am neither anti-AAP nor pro-BJP or pro-Congress. So the party which is in power will have to take the responsibility.

"Unfortunately the kind of condition which we are going through and the kind of air quality which is there in Delhi, obviously Aam Aadmi Party has to take the responsibility," said Gambhir.

Supreme Court in October ruled that firecrackers will be allowed to burn only in designated areas of Delhi and National Capital Region (NCR), to keep a check on pollution.

A few days ago, reports emerged stating that Gambhir, who of late expresses his opinion on various social issues, might contest 2019 Lok Sabha elections as a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate.

A senior BJP leader told The Sunday Guardian, "Reports from the ground about Meenakshi Lekhi are not good. People from her constituency are not happy with her work and the party leadership has decided that she will not be repeated this time as a candidate from New Delhi.”

"Gautam Gambhir, in most likelihood, will be the party’s candidate from the same seat. He has wide acceptability and is known for his social work. He is a Delhiite and will do his best for the people of Delhi,” he had added.

Gautam Gambhir recently gave up the captaincy of Delhi state after leading them in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
