As Virat Kohli celebrated his 30th birthday on November 5, wishes poured in for him from all across the globe. Amidst millions of good wishes, it was former India captain Sourav Ganguly’s words for Kohli that caught everyone’s attention.

Ganguly hoped that Kohli will better his own records in the years to come. He also claimed that under Virat’s captaincy, India will register their first ever Test series win on Australian soil. Team India are slated to play four Tests in their Tour Down Under from December 6 to January 7.

"The 30-year mark is the best time for batsman for batting, but in past four-five years the way Virat Kohli played, it will be a challenge for him to better his records. I wish him a happy birthday; may this year be good for him, he lives his life well,” Ganguly told India TV.

“Indian cricket will move forward on Kohli's shoulders. I understand and believe that this time Virat Kohli and company will beat Australia at their home, which is very important for India," he added.

Kohli is currently rested for the ongoing T20I series against the Windies. In the recently concluded five-match ODI series against the West Indies, Virat ensured India won 3-1, scoring three back-to-back hundreds.

Kohli will resume cricket when India tour Australia later this month, starting with the T20I series on November 21.
