Must be 120-150% fit when you are making a comeback, says Zaheer Khan

Zaheer stressed on the need for players like Kedar Jadhav to completely overcome their injury and then step on to the field.

Former Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan has advised proper handling and recovery of any injury before stepping on the field to every cricketer and says that it is crucial to be "120-150% fit" for a game at the highest level.

Zaheer discussed in context of Kedhar Jadhav's recurrent hamstring injury, where he has been medically treated twice now this year, after being ruled out of the IPL sustaining the tear in its opening encounter and with the niggle resurfacing during the final of the Asia Cup in UAE.

"If it’s recurrent, then you have to be cautious. It’s best to test that hamstring over the period of time,” said Zaheer on Cricbuzz,  "It’s the worst nightmare that you go into the team and you are injured. That’s in a way, I used to hate the fact that everytime I used to get injured during the match."

Zaheer, inarguably the best fast bowler that the country ever produced, himself, unfortunately, had an injury-prone body for someone so immensely skilful and that's why he further stressed on the need for a cricketer to give enough time for an injury to recover and counter it down properly.

“I used to feel that you are letting your team down. I myself used to make sure that you are giving more time than less recovery time," he said and signed off with, “You must be 120-150% fit when you are making that comeback rather than rushing back to the highest level of cricket,"
