South Africa batsman JP Duminy and all-rounder Wiaan Mulder will be out of action for three months and thus will miss the upcoming home series against Pakistan.

It is a huge blow to the Proteas ahead of their limited-overs tour to Australia. Cricket South Africa (CSA) confirmed the news on Twitter on Tuesday.

While Duminy had a successful shoulder operation last week and will not participate in the inaugural Mzansi Super League next month, Mulder is currently recovering from the ankle surgery, sustained during the recently held T20I series against Zimbabwe.

South Africa will play three ODIs and a T20I in their tour Down Under from November 4 to November 17. Subsequently, they will host Pakistan in three Tests, five ODIs and three T20Is.

Cricket South Africa also confirmed that veteran batsman Hashim Amla is recovering from a finger injury and is expected to play in the MSL. Amla had sustained the injury while playing in the Caribbean Premier League last month. As a result, he missed the ODI and T20I series at home against Zimbabwe.
