All-rounder Corey Anderson and wicketkeeper-batsman Glenn Phillips have been included in New Zealand's T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against Pakistan, in United Arab Emirates.

The national selectors had decided to name only an 11-member touring party initially and informed that the rest of slots will be filled, based on the performances from the ongoing tour of New Zealand A against Pakistan A in UAE.

While Corey Anderson didn't have a highly fruitful series against Pakistan A, and has been picked purely on the basis of ability here, Phillips emerged as the top run-getter in the three-match unofficial list A series, with 126 runs.

Phillips, 21, who has already played 7 T20I games for his country, captured everyone's imagination by ending up as the second highest run-getter in this year's Caribbean Premier League(CPL) with 457 runs at an outstanding strike rate.

Anderson and Phillips, both part of the New Zealand A set-up, are expected to play the remaining two one day games against Pakistan A before joining national squad.

The team led by Kane Williamson will be missing one of its premier match-winners - Martin Guptill, who recently sustained a calf strain and was subsequently ruled out of the limited overs leg of the full tour.

New Zealand will play three T20Is, three Tests and as many ODIs during their five-week stay of United Arab Emirates.

The T20 Internationals series begins with the first game scheduled on Wednesday, October 31 at Abu Dhabi.

Squad: Kane Williamson (c), Corey Anderson, Mark Chapman, Colin de Grandhomme, Lockie Ferguson, Adam Milne, Colin Munro, Glenn Phillips, Tim Seifert, Ish Sodhi, Tim Southee, Ross Taylor, Seth Rance.
