Will they, won’t they? Sources close to Dhoni and Gambhir clarify their stand on joining BJP in 2019

MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir were reportedly contesting LS polls in 2019.

MS Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir were reportedly on their way to joining BJPA report in the Sunday Guardian had suggested that India’s 2011 World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni and hero of the 2011 World Cup final Gautam Gambhir might be on their way to joining politics, as they were reportedly contesting LS polls in 2019 on BJP tickets.

The report said that Gambhir was likely to replace Meenakshi Lekhi from the New Delhi seat as the party was not happy with her performance. It further stated that BJP has trust in both Gambhir and Dhoni as they have proved their leadership on the cricket field.

Firstpost contacted sources close to Gambhir and Dhoni to find the truth out.

Gambhir's manager Dinesh Chopra denied that the Delhi cricketer is planning to contest elections next year on a BJP ticket. Dinesh, in an email conversation, said, "There is no truth in the story."

Close friend and business partner of MS Dhoni, Arun Pandey too, denied the news doing the rounds, saying that the story is just a speculation and said: "The news story is only speculation and no reality."
