Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is yet to take a decision on the request of Shakib Al Hasan to allow him to participate in the upcoming UAE T20X – a franchise-based T20 tournament. Shakib wants to be fit as quickly as possible and keep all his options open and that’s why he wants to play in the T20 event.

The ace all-rounder is currently undergoing a rehabilitation program for his injured finger, which forced him out of action for three months including the ongoing home series against Zimbabwe, and even there are possibilities about him missing the upcoming West Indies series as well.

Recently, Shakib applied for a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) to BCB to play in the UAE T20 tournament which is scheduled to be played between December 19 and January 11.

On Monday (October 22), the BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus has confirmed that the Board received such an application from the all-rounder but the Bangladesh Board are yet to take a decision.

Jalal told reporters, “He had sent NOC for approval to take part in the franchise-based T20 tournament in UAE and we will notify him about our stance within a day or two.”

Meanwhile, Shakib’s participation in the UAE based T20 league is under the cloud, as the BCB sources have suggested that the all-rounder is likely to be denied NOC because the board doesn’t want to take any risk with him, considering the status of his finger injury.

On the other hand, Shakib said, “I want to be fit as quickly as possible. I want to keep all my options open so that I can avail the first opportunity that comes my way. I would like to play against Zimbabwe in the Test series but if that is not the case, then there is series against West Indies, then the tournament in UAE that I applied for or say BPL or the tour of New Zealand.”

He signed off by saying, “I want to keep all my options open so applied for it so that I can start playing at the earliest after regaining my full fitness. There is nothing more to it.”
