Imran Khan, Shoaib Akhtar and Shahid Afridi send messages of solace for victims of Amritsar train mishap

More than 50 people died after being run over by two trains near Amritsar.

Shahid Afridi sent his message on Amritsar train accident via TwitterAmritsar saw a very sad Dussehra on 19th October as more than 50 people were mowed down by two trains at a railway crossing near the Amritsar Railway Station. All the people killed in the mishap were the audience watching the Dussehra effigy burning at a nearby ground.

The incident happened on the tracks close to the Jaura Phatak crossing as many of the at least 300 spectators, who were present at the Dhobi Ghat ground, stood on the tracks to get a better view and make videos of the event. At the same time, 74643 Jalandhar-Amritsar DMU, ran them over. The second train, the 13006 Amritsar-Howrah Express, crossed the scene and mowed down the people who had moved to the other track to save themselves from the first train.

Another former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar too shared a message on Twitter, “Really sad to hear about the loss of lives like this ..

Meanwhile, Shahid Afridi tweeted, “Really tragic incident in India. Condolences with the affected families may Allah give them the strength to overcome the loss. May Allah protect us all.
