Rashid Khan has asked for more Test cricket for Afghanistan as it will help them to get better in the most challenging format of the game.

In June 2017, Afghanistan and Ireland were granted Test status by the International Cricket Council. While Ireland faced Pakistan in their maiden Test match in May this year, Afghanistan played their first ever Test match against India a month later.

Even after entering into the Test arena, the future of Afghanistan and Ireland looks a bit hazy. The next Test assignment of both the countries is against each other in 2019. Afghanistan and Ireland are also not part of the inaugural ICC World Test Championship which begins next year, with only nine Full Members taking part.

"The more we play, our skills will improve," Rashid Khan quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.

"We haven't played many Test matches and the more we play, there will be changes and improvement. You would get to know how to bowl on certain pitches. So, we get to learn when we play more. The youngsters can also benefit from the overseas players and coaches. It will help us as we will be playing a lot of Tests in the future," he added.

Talking about their debut Test against India at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Rashid said they were probably overawed by the occasion. Afghanistan were bundled out twice in a single day for 109 and 103 to lose the match by an innings and 262 runs.

"When we played our first Test against India, in the first session, we didn't know what we were doing. It was a special occasion and maybe we were a bit overawed. But as each session went, we were getting better," Rashid Khan concluded.
