Afghanistan’s young left-hander, Hazratullah Zazai, has joined the elite list of players who have smacked six sixes in an over in any format of the game on Sunday (October 14) and called it a “surreal moment” to have achieved the feat in front of his idol –Chris Gayle.

The flamboyant 20-year batsman made Abdullah Mazari the victim of his assault, a left-arm orthodox bowler, and hit him for six sixes in an over in the ongoing Afghanistan Premier League (APL) 2018.

Playing for Kabul Zwanan, the southpaw notched up his 50 off just 12 balls against Balkh Legends, and was eventually dismissed for a 17-ball 62. His innings was studded with 4 boundaries and 7 sixes.

With his phenomenal effort with the willow, Hazratullah levelled the record held by India’s Yuvraj Singh, who has hit six sixes in an over off England speedster Stuart Broad during the inaugural World T20 in 2007, and Chris Gayle at Australia's Big Bash League in 2016.

Meanwhile, Hazratullah is pleased with the fact that he did the same in front of idol –Gayle, but did not in any way think of outshining anyone and will continue with his natural game.

Zazai told media after the match, “It was a surreal moment for me to perform in front of my idol [Gayle]. I was just trying to play my natural game and did not in any way think of outshining anyone.”

He signed off by saying, “It is a proud moment for me. It is a very enjoyable moment for me that my name is now linked to so many big names of the game, who are really legends of the game. I am thankful to Almighty Allah for helping me score the 12-ball fifty.”
