Winning overseas is now considered as an achievement because it is very rare.

It has become tough for the cricket teams to perform on overseas tours as good as they do in their home.

Former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly, in an exclusive interview with Zee media, says the lack of quality in the current generation is the main reason teams don't do well overseas.

Recently, Indian cricket team crushed the touring side West Indies in their home by an innings and 272 runs in the first Test of 2-match Test series. It was a huge win for India, in fact, their biggest win in terms of run-margin. Before this series, India played Test series against England and was completely outplayed by them, losing the five-match series 1-4.

Recently, Australia drew a game against Pakistan in UAE, thanks to some quality batting by skipper Tim Paine, Travis Head and centurion Usman Khawaja who showed grit and character to save the game.

“Today’s cricketers lack quality. That’s why all the teams are struggling in away series. Team’s think tank will have to sit and find out the solution to the problem.  Even the coach will have to take the responsibility because the role of the coach is very important to keep the team on track in and off the field."

Talking about Virat Kohli and his comparison with Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly isn't in favor of it despite Kohli being in the elite list of batsmen.

"It would be unfair to compare two cricketers of different times. Many people are trying to find the likes of Sachin or Sehwag in young talent Prithvi Shaw after his debut century, but Sourav believes Prithvi has just started his journey and he will have miles to go to prove his talent.

“You can find many names who have scored a century in debut Test. But very few have gone on to play 100 Tests. Prithvi has shown his talent. Now he will have to prove his longevity, “ Ganguly said.
