Chris Lynn, who is one of the most explosive batsmen doing the rounds in the world cricket, has decided to skip the upcoming Sheffield Shield –Australia’s First-class tournament, saying the decision has been taken purely just because of his body.

The 28-year-old recently turned up for Queensland in the just concluded JLT One Day Cup, where he has notched up 452 runs at an average of 75.33. He will fly Dubai on Sunday (October 14) to join the Australian squad for the upcoming T20 International series against Pakistan.

His career has been injury-prone, especially his fragile shoulders, as he had three separate surgeries on his left shoulder and a dislocated right shoulder recently, and Lynn feels he should avoid the red-ball cricket to preserve himself, as his body can’t take the rigors of playing for longer periods of time.

However, Lynn insisted that the passion to play red ball cricket remains but for the time being, he just wants to relax his body, as he doesn’t want to take the risk with his shoulders before the World Cup 2019.

With the World Cup looming next year in May, the destructive batsman wants to get his priorities right, eyeing to make it to Australia’s mega ICC campaign in England.

He stated, “It’s currently white ball only, purely just because of my body. If I have a big day one in a Shield game there’s no way I could back up day two, three or four. In 12 months we’ll have a look at it and see where the body’s at, but for the time being there’s plenty of White-ball Cricket in front of me.”

Lynn signed off by saying, “My last couple of shoulder reconstructions were from diving and that's just brain fades from wanting to stop the ball. I told myself I'll never dive again on the cricket field; it's hard cause mentally I want to get every ball I can. But I've got to realize that if I want that longevity in the game I've got to pull my ego back a little and put more runs on the board.”
