Former Australian coach Darren Lehmann feels T20 specialists Chris Lynn and D'Arcy Short could turn things around for Australia in Test cricket as they are looking to build a new team. He said their fireworks could transfer into the five-day game this summer.

When asked about an uncapped player getting into the Australian side, Lehmann named Chris Lynn. "He's been capped in one-dayers and T20s, but if he starts well then who knows. Or D'Arcy Short. One of those two. They're exciting," he said.

Lynn has been in terrific form during the JLT One-Day Cup for Queensland. He scored three fifties and a couple of hundreds in the tournament. He is returning to the one-day tournament after five years as injuries didn't allow him to be regular.

"Four-day cricket would be less diving on his shoulders," Lehmann said. "He's got the technique. His first-class record is outstanding."

Lynn isn't looking forward to the red-ball cricket because of injuries concern. He said, "I'm currently white-ball only, purely just because of my body.

"If I have a big day one in a Sheffield Shield game, there's no way I could back up days two, three and four. Letting your teammates down is a big no-no and I always pride myself on, if I start a game, trying to finish it.

"In 12 months' time we'll have a look at it and see where the body's at, but for the time being, there's plenty of white-ball cricket. I got through the JLT Cup really good, hopefully, I can just build on that, and the time on my feet was very valuable."

While Short has not played impressive cricket like Lynn, Lehmann is still convinced. "D'Arcy Short has started the summer well," he said.

"Any of those two could come out of nowhere for the Baggy Green."
