Myanmar cricket team on Tuesday (October 9) recorded a bizarre scorecard to their name. In an ICC World T20 Asia Regions Qualifiers match against Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur, Myanmar were reduced to one of the lowest-ever scores in the shortest format.

The Myanmar side lost their 8 wickets for just 9 runs in 10.1 overs before heavy rain forced play to a halt. Left-arm spinner Pavandeep Singh spun his web around the Myanmar batsmen to pick up five wickets. Pavandeep bowled three maidens and conceded only one run in his quota of four overs. Anwar Rahman picked two wickets while the other wicket of the Myanmar innings was a run-out. The highest score in the Myanmar team was only 3 runs from YK Ko Aung.

The target was revised to six runs in eight overs on the Duckworth–Lewis (D/L) method. In reply, Malaysia got off to a terrible start as medium pacer Paing Danu knocked out both the openers Anwar Arudin and Shafiq Sharif for a duck in the first over. Suhan Alagaratnam, however, hit a six off Khin Aye to seal the game in the second over.

This is probably the only instance in the game when the target could have been chased with one shot. The lowest score in T20 Internationals is 39 runs (10.3 overs) made by Netherlands against Sri Lanka in the 2014 T20 World Cup in Bangladesh.
