Ace Bangladesh all-rounder and their captain in Tests and T20Is, Shakib Al Hasan has good news for his fans, as he has confirmed on Monday (October 8) that the infection on his injured finger is under control at the moment.

However, the southpaw will remain on antibiotics, which has been given in injection form, for one more week at the Hospital in Melbourne and then he can begin his rehabilitation process at home.

Reportedly, Shakib is taking treatment for his injured finger under Dr. Greg Hoy in Australia and there was an evident improvement around the infected area on the base of his little finger on his left hand.

Shakib told Prothom Alo, a Bangladeshi newspaper on Monday, “The report is good. The infection is under control. Full recovery will take time though.”

At the moment, the all-rounder needs to go through the prescribed antibiotics course and once he completes the course, Dr. Hoy will have another look at the infected finger to make a decision on his condition and take the next action on the course.

During the rehabilitation process, Shakib will be out of action for three months and it may also be that he does not need further surgery only if the pain subsides in that period.

Noteworthy, the finger infection forced Shakib to miss the virtual semifinal against Pakistan, as well as, the final leg of the Asia Cup 2018 in Dubai.

After returning from the UAE, he had to undergo an immediately-needed surgery at Apollo Hospital in Dhaka to get the pus out, as the all-rounder was in danger of having his hand completely disabled if the pus had spread out on his left hand.

The all-rounder sustained the finger injury while blocking a boundary in the T20 Tri-series final against Sri Lanka and had to leave the field immediately after getting struck on the finger.
