Nicole Bolton and Jess Jonassen are all set to play in the sixth edition of the 2018 ICC Women's World T20, as the duo has made a late entry into the 15-member Australia squad for the upcoming  T20 event to be held in the West Indies from 9 to 24 November 2018.

Bolton, the explosive One Day International opener and part-time off-spinner and the all-rounder Jess weren't initially included in the World T20 squad that was a similar one that recently sealed a 3-0 T20I series win over New Zealand at home.

Australia also named the squad for the Pakistan series, as they are set to play three ODIs and three T20Is in Malaysia before heading to the Caribbean for the World T20.

However, Bolton has played just two T20Is in her four-year international career and her last appearance was in September 2016 against Sri Lanka, but her ODI average is 46.22 and was impressive in the last Women's Big Bash League season, where she finished as the third highest scorer with 482 runs. Furthermore, the left-hander was also among the top run-scorers in the 2018 Women's Super League which put her name on the big screen for the mega ICC event in the West Indies.

On the other hand, Jonassen, who underwent a knee surgery last month, will travel with the national squad to Malaysia to work on her fitness, but won't take part in the ODI series.

National Selector Shawn Flegler said on Tuesday (October 9), “There's only two players that come into the ODI and T20 sides that didn't take part in the recent series against New Zealand, which is really pleasing as it means we have a stable playing group who are gelling really well.”

Flegler signed off by saying, “Nicole's generally been considered a 50-over player but she's put in a lot of work to improve her short-form game and its evident in her recent T20 form. Jess is recovering well from her knee injury and will join the squad in Malaysia, with the aim to have her playing in the two warm-up matches in the West Indies.”
