Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman set to perform the role of mentor in UAE T20X

The inaugural edition of UAE T20x will be played from December 19 to January 11 in Dubai and Sharjah.

Indian batting legends Virender Sehwag and VVS Laxman are among the eminent names from the subcontinent who have thrown their hats into the ring for mentoring roles in the inaugural edition of UAE T20x.

The coach and mentor pool, which is now 170, comprised of accomplished career coaches and former cricketers from 16 different countries. While Sehwag and Laxman will perform the role of mentors in the competition, Venkatesh Prasad, Robin Singh, Sanjay Bangar, Sriram Krishnamurthy and AR Srikkanth will take up the coaching roles.

Some of the renowned names for the coaching positions are Pakistan’s Shoaib Akhtar, Waqar Younis, Misbah ul Haq, Abdul Razzaq, Inzamam ul Haq, Amir Sohail, Moin Khan, Saeed Ajmal and Mushtaq Ahmed. On the other hand, Pakistan batting great Javed Miandad is keen to serve as a mentor.

Former Sri Lanka pacer Chaminda Vaas has also signed up to coach a UAE T20x franchise while spin wizard Muttiah Muralitharan and opening batsman Tillakaratne Dilshan are expected to act as coaches in the league.

The inaugural edition of UAE T20x will be played from December 19 to January 11 in Dubai and Sharjah.
