India U19 won the youth Asia Cup title for the sixth time beating Sri Lanka U19 emphatically by 144 runs in the final played in Mirpur, Dhaka.

India captain Prab Simran Singh won the toss and chose to bat first against Sri Lanka. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal (85 off 113 balls; 8 fours and 1 six) and Anuj Rawat (57 in 79 balls; 4 fours and 3 sixes) gave a perfect start with an opening stand of 121 in 25 overs.

Devdutt Paddikal then added 31 run before Senarathne bowled him. But captain Prab Simran Singh (65* in 37 balls; 3 fours and 4 sixes) and Ayush Badoni (52* in 28 balls; 2 fours and 5 sixes) ripped apart the Lankan bowling with an unbeaten 110-run stand in just 55 balls.

India U19 ended up making 304/3 in 50 overs. K Perera (1/55), S Senarathne (1/45) and D Wellage (1/24) were the wicket takers for Sri Lanka.

The slowing pitch made it difficult to score runs and add some highly disciplined bowling from Indian bowlers and you had a perfect recipe for a Sri Lankan meltdown.

Nishan Madushka (49), Navod Paranavithana (48) and Pasindu Sooriyabandara (31) were the only main scorers for Sri Lanka, as Harsh Tyagi (6/38) and Siddharth Desai (2/37) ran riot after Rajesh Mohanty and Mohit Jangra (1/18) kept the noose tight in the power play overs.

Sri Lankan innings ended at 160 in 38.4 overs and India won the match and the final by 144 runs.

This was India’s sixth title win after 1989, 2003, 2012 (shared), 2014, 2016.
