With the ICC Women's World T20 2018 only a few weeks away, all-rounder Ellyse Perry wants Australia to work extra hard on improving their fielding standards for the all-important marquee event.

While Australia have been excellent across all conditions and opponents, Perry, an integral part of the team, wants them to continue to get better in every department and not leave any stone unturned to be ripe and fully prepared for the tournament which kickstarts on November 9.

In their first series win over them in six years, Australia beat New Zealand 3-0 and Perry feels that the side needs, “just about the final bits of polish," and said, “The most important thing is getting a knack for winning, and we’ve found that now with T20, I think we’d really like to carry that into any format we’re playing.”

“Really confident that we can [win it], But I’m sure there are a lot of other squads who are also confident. That is what makes the tournament exciting," she added.

Perry, who has scored 875 runs at an outstanding strike rate and has taken 86 wickets with a very fine economy across 92 T20 Internationals for Australia and is regarded as one of the best players in the world, further emphasized the importance of fielding and said, “There are a few rocks and diamonds at the moment, We’re still putting down catches – particularly in T20 cricket with top order batters it can really cost you, so that’s something for us to work on."

“[But] our athleticism on the field has been really good. And just the intensity has been great. It’s just about those final bits of polish,” she signed off.
