Yuzvendra Chahal has become an integral member of India's limited-overs team because of his consistency with the ball. But the 28-year-old has found it hard to fond a place in the Test side.

He hasn't featured in a single Test for team India till now. The leggie has played 29 First Class matches but hasn't found a place in the Test side.

There were speculations that Chahal may get a chance to play Test series against West Indies in the home after he was named in the India A team for the two four-day matches against South Africa A. But he wasn't picked in the 12-man squad for the series against Windies.

Chahal, who hasn't played much First Class games in recent times, believes there isn't much opportunity left to get a place in the Test side.

“Obviously I want to play Test cricket but at the moment there are players like Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Ashwin who perform consistently. So I have to wait for my turn and whenever I get the chance, I’ll make sure I’m ready because I have to be at my best when competing with legends like them,” Chahal said in Chennai as per Sportstar Live.

Chahal had not played any first-class cricket since December 2016. He talked about getting back into the red-ball cricket after being picked for India A. “I was playing red ball cricket after two years and obviously when you play after so long you’re out of touch. But it was a good learning experience for more red-ball cricket in the future,” he said.

Chahal is enjoying the competition. He feels competition is a good thing and it will ultimately benefit the team.

“There is a lot of healthy competition for the spots. You know that if you don’t bowl well there’s always someone ready to take your place. It’s a good thing because it pushes you to work harder,” he said.

The Haryana cricketer wants himself motivated to do well in the upcoming years. "What has happened in the past year is a big achievement for me as everyone wants to play for India.

"And I want to play for at least seven to eight years and not just play 30-40 matches. So I have to keep challenging myself to get better,” said Chahal.
