India coach Ravi Shastri appears in front of CoA to explain loss to England

Ravi Shastri defended the performance of Virat Kohli and team India on tour to England.

Virat Kohli and Ravi Shastri | GettyCommittee of Administrators (CoA) saw an appearance from India head coach Ravi Shastri, who explained the reason behind England drubbing India 4-1 in the five-match Test series.

Mirror has come to know that Shastri met the Vinod Rai-led CoA a few days before the team left the country for Asia Cup on September 16. He stalwartly defended Virat Kohli and Co's show, reiterating his earlier remarks that the ODI and Test series losses were not a true indicator of the squad's show. The team, he insisted, was not outplayed.

Shastri is said to have told the cricket administrators that the toss played a vital part in Tests, with Kohli not winning it even once. He said it was a hard-fought series and India's performance on the whole on the tour was satisfactory.

CoA also sought out suggestions to achieve better results, especially during the tour to Australia later this year. It is believed that Shastri has asked for more practice games and team management wants to add a spin coach to bolster the support staff.
