Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has revealed on Friday (September 28) that he had to get finger surgery done immediately after returning from Asia Cup 2018.

Having played the last match for Bangladesh of the Super Four stage against Afghanistan, which they won by three runs, Shakib was ruled out of the six-nation One Day International tournament due to an aggravation of the finger injury and he returned to Dhaka for further assessment and treatment.

On Friday, the all-rounder went on his official media handle to reveal that even he did not know the extent of the injury and he came to know that he would have to get a surgery done in the hospital. He also shared a picture of himself after the surgery on Instagram.

He wrote, “When I returned home from the Asia Cup, I didn't know the extent of my finger injury. Since returning I felt a lot of pain and there was inflammation as well, so after going to the hospital, learnt that I have to get surgery done. The infection on the injury and puss inside came out to be 60-70cm.”

Meanwhile, Shakib thanked his well-wishers and fans for their prayers as well as revealed that he will need to undergo another surgery. He added, “Thanks to all your good wishes and prayers that I averted something major. Though I have to go get another surgery. Please pray for me and with your love and well wishes I hopefully will return to play for the Bangladesh national team soon. Thanks.”

Noteworthy, the all-rounder managed to score only 49 runs and picked seven wickets while conceding 172 runs in the four matches in the Asia Cup 2018.
