Sachin Tendulkar was the first cricketer ever to be bestowed with the prestigious Khel Ratna award in 1998. After almost a decade in 2007, MS Dhoni became the second cricketer to get Khel Ratna award and now after more than a decade, Virat Kohli became the third cricketer to get the honor.
He received his Khel Ratna from President of India Sh. Ramnath Kovind at the President’s House or Rashtrapati Bhawan on September 25, 2018. Kohli was accompanied by his family in wife Anushka Sharma, mother Saroj Kohli, and brother Vikas Kohli.
Sachin Tendulkar was elated at Kohli’s achievement, and wished him on Twitter, “Congratulations @imVkohli on receiving the #KhelRatna. May you continue making us proud. Keep up the good work!”
