Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli received the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna on September 25 at the Rashtrapati Bhawan in the capital.
Kohli, who was rejected for the award in the previous two years, was chosen after becoming world’s No.1 batsmen in both ODI and Test cricket as per the ICC rankings and has been putting scintillating performances consistently since the last couple of years.
The 29-year old missed out on the top sports award following consecutive nominations in 2016 and 2017. The swashbuckling batsman has smashed 6147 runs in 71 Tests with 23 centuries and 9779 runs in 211 ODIs, including 35 tons.
