No one can forget the 1996 Will World Cup’s quarterfinal clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan. The match was played in a jam-packed M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore and has become an immortal in the annals of India-Pakistan cricketing rivalry.
22 years ago, we saw something amazing from Pakistani captain in the match, Aamir Sohail, who took on the Indian bowlers, especially Venkatesh Prasad. Aamir Sohail had hammered Venkatesh Prasad for four to the square boundary and brashly signaled the bowler with the bat as if to say, " See that, I will hit you there again".
A charged-up Prasad then ran in and Sohail charged out to repeat the same shot but missed the ball and his stumps were shattered. This was followed by a very emotional and animated send-off to Sohail from Venkatesh Prasad.
Almost 22 years later, Prasad and Sohail sat down together to recall the moment. The two took a trip down memory lane for Star Sports.
Sohail said that there were no hard feelings after the incident, while Prasad said how he was reminded of the incident every day by fans. The two then reversed the roles with Prasad batting and hitting Sohail for a four before pointing towards the boundary. Sohail send gave Prasad the send-off after getting his wicket.
