Murali Vijay's good run of form is continuing in the English County Cricket for Essex as he scored his third fifty-plus score on the trot to put his side in a position of strength against Worcestershire.

Vijay scored 94 stroking 14 balls to the fence in his 197 balls stay at the crease. He started the season with 56 and 100 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, helping Essex to an eight-wicket victory.

Earlier in the day, Worcestershire were shot out for 94 in under 26 overs after Daryl Mitchell opted to bat.

For Murali Vijay, all these three knocks have been of great importance after he had a forgetful tour of England which India conceded 1-4. Vijay, who played the first two Tests against England failed to counter the swinging conditions and was ultimately dropped from the squad.

After a string of poor outings in England, Vijay was dropped from the next three Test as India decided to give KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan a go ahead. Rahul scored a daunting ton in the first innings of the final Test to reaffirm his faith on the selectors.
