As the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) decided to host the Asia Cup 2018 in UAE in association with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), the tournament was designed in such a way that every team would play at least one game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

However, it is learned that the BCCI sought for a little tweak in the schedule as they didn't want Rohit Sharma and company to travel for almost 90 minutes before and after the match.

As per a report published in Sportstar, the scheduling has now been altered to ensure India plays all its Super 4 matches in Dubai.

On qualifying for Super 4, the host board (India) will play as Group A – Qualifier 1,” states the Tournament Handbook as per the quotes in Sportstar.

As per the initial itinerary, had India lost to Pakistan it would have resulted in Men in Blue traveling to Abu Dhabi for one of the three Super 4 games.

The 2018 Asia Cup saw Bangladesh defeat Sri Lanka in the opening match of the tournament thanks to a century by Mushfiqur Rahim.
