South African pacer Dale Steyn is back to the One Day International side after a gap of two years. Steyn played his last ODI against Australia at Cape Town on October 12, 2016. The speedster, who has appeared in 116 ODIs overall, is added to the South African squad for an ODI series against Zimbabwe later this month.

Along with him, spinner Imran Tahir, Keshav Maharaj, and Tabraiz Shamsi found a place in the sixteen-man squad.

David Miller has been missing from the side. It came as a surprise as the southpaw has distanced himself from red-ball cricket to focus on the shorter format. Even Quinton de Kock won't be playing the series. Both are rested from the side.

The team will be led by Faf du Plessis in both the ODI and T20Is. He had missed the series against Sri Lanka because of a shoulder injury. The South African skipper will have to pass a fitness test to mark his availability. If he fails, a stand-in captain will be named.
