Gautam Gambhir is in the news once again for his social work. The left-handed batsman who played 58 Tests for India was recently seen attending the inauguration of the seventh edition of Hijra Habba in Delhi. He was dressed as a woman and that grabbed everyone's attention.

He came in support of the people belonging to the transgender community. Not too long ago Gambhir celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with the transgenders.  “It’s not about being a man or a woman. It’s about being a HUMAN.” With proud transgenders Abhina Aher and Simran Shaikh and their Rakhi love on my hand. I’ve accepted them as they are. Will you? #respecttransgenders," he had tweeted.

This time he wore a bindi and also a saree to spread the message that it's completely normal to be a transgender and they should not be treated differently.

Recently, the Supreme Court of India announced a historic decision when they struck down Section 377, which earlier criminalized same-sex marriages. The repealing of Section 377 has come as a significant relief to the LGBT community in India, who has faced severe backlash over the issue in the past.
