Virender Sehwag opines whether Rishabh Pant good enough to replace MS Dhoni in World Cup 2019?

Pant recently became first Indian wicket-keeper to score a Test hundred in England.

MS Dhoni and Rishabh Pant

Indian Test wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant attracted everyone with his blistering innings against England in the last Test. He scored 114 runs in just 146 with 15 fours and 4 sixes. In just third Test, it was his maiden Test hundred.

As soon as he smashed a six to complete his hundred, fans already started clamoring for a place for Pant in World Cup 2019.

Is he good enough to replace MS Dhoni? Ability wise he is growing and in future, he can turn out to be a good replacement for Indian veteran. But currently, he doesn't have the experience to secure him a place in the upcoming World Cup, believes former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag.

Sehwag, who has played three World Cups, said there is no second thought India should go with Dhoni.

"In my personal opinion, MS Dhoni should continue till the 2019 World Cup. Even if you play Pant in ODIs from now, he won't be able to play more than 15-16 ODIs till the World Cup which is far less compared to Dhoni, who has played over 300 ODIs. I would want Dhoni to continue till the World Cup," Sehwag said on India TV

Pant may not be ready yet but Dhoni wants him to pass the baton to the Delhi youngster at the right time.

"Pant is someone who can hit sixes at his will, but when you talk about Dhoni, he has won matches single-handedly for the country. So Pant has the right kind of the temperament to be a perfect heir for him. I want Dhoni to hand the baton to Pant when he hangs his boots," Sehwag added.
