Younis Khan, former Pakistan captain and one of their best batsmen ever, has claimed on Tuesday (September 11) that the match between India and Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2018 will be an exciting one to watch. The six-team tournament will get underway from 15 September in the UAE.

While speaking to media at a cricket camp for Balochistan cricketers in Quetta, the batting legend further went on to claim that both Pakistan and India have fifty-fifty chances of winning the upcoming Asia Cup encounter against each other. They will face each other in Asia Cup 2018 on September 19.

The 40-year-old also opined that there should be regular series between India and Pakistan, saying a series like Ashes could be arranged to keep the excitement of the rivalry.

As per reports in Geo TV, Younis said, “A series like Ashes can be played between the two teams. It doesn’t have to be every year. It would be every two years or three years.”

Commenting on Pakistan’s domestic cricket, he said that tournaments like Pakistan Super League (PSL) are very important for the revival of cricket in the country.

Younis signed off by saying, “Bangladesh and India both have their own cricket leagues and their cricket has vastly improved. Shadab Khan, Hasan Ali, Fakhar Zaman and Shaheen Shah Afridi all came through PSL. Even if the two are merged there will still be new talent. The important thing is to give the same level of importance to domestic cricket that we give to international cricket.”
