Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell is incredibly happy for his teammate Aaron Finch, who has earned his maiden call-up to the national Test squad for the Pakistan Test series on Tuesday (September 11).

The right-hander made his international debut in 2011 and has ever since been an integral part of Australia’s limited-overs scheme.  The Victoria-born batsman has played 93 ODIs and 42 T20Is in which he has amassed 3361 and 1596 runs respectively. Finch however,  could not stake his claims in the national Test squad despite his impressive performances with the bat in the limited overs format.

However, Finch's wait to play the traditional format of the game for Australia has finally come to an end, as the 31-year-old along with Travis Head are the only players in the squad who are set to make their Test debut for the Kangaroos against Pakistan next month.

Cricket Australia (CA) announced the 15-member squad having called five uncapped players including Queensland's trio of Michael Neser, Brendan Doggett and Marnus Labuschagne for the two-match Test series against Pakistan, which is slated to be held in the UAE in October 2018.

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell has expressed Finch's selection in the Test squad for the series against Pakistan despite him being axed by the selectors. Here is his tweet where he has congratulated Finch.

He went on Twitter to express his delight over Finch’s Test selection, wrote, “So incredibly happy and proud for my good mate @AaronFinch5’s call up to the test squad! Has been sensational this year and thoroughly deserves his opportunity! #woofwoof #testdogga.”
