Former England captain Alastair Cook is the epitome of simplicity in the English cricket. In the times when cricketers are flaunting expensive cars and bling and other things to show off their wealth, the leading Test scorer for England took the humble Tube- London's underground train- to play his last Test at the Oval.

Cook along with James Anderson and few other teammates like Ollie Pope and Keaton Jennings was seen taking the underground train equivalent to Kolkata or Delhi metro. "It's not the first time Cook has taken the tube to come for a Test match. It's the most convenient way for him to come to the ground," a member of the English contingent told TOI.

Obviously, the question came about the fans mobbing the cricketers and the source said, "Well, you should understand the Indian reality and the English reality around cricket are not the same. Yes, there were fans coming in and asking for selfies and Cookie was quite happy to oblige them.”

On Friday, Cook had to change one train to go home and as he reached his destination, all the people in the tube compartment stood up and clapped for him. "Cook loved the adulation. It was hardly intrusive and he will do the same on other match days as well," the source added.
