Having earlier expressed his disappointment over Twitter on not being offered a central contract by his home board, all-rounder Sikandar Raza got a reply from Zimbabwe Cricket(ZC) which listed out the reasons why one of its best players was given this kind of treatment. 

Raza vented his anger towards the board and its acting managing director Givemore Makoni, and now has received a reply over the same social media platform. 

ZC through a media release breached its own policy of not "discussing employee issues in the media" and then stated, it was not a decision taken by the acting MD and rather solely decided by the board's Contracts Committee.

The issue begins with the long outstanding salaries not being provided to players, which prompted Raza to play in Global T20 Canada league despite ZC not granting him a No Objection Certificate. The ZC had told Raza that he is required for national duties - limited overs series against Pakistan and Australia - but the right-hand batsman declined and terminated his contract at the time. 

The statement issued by ZC reads, "When considering who to offer a contract, the Contracts Committee does not only look at an individual player's statistics, fitness and performances, but also one's attitude, discipline and commitment not only to ZC but more importantly to Zimbabwe,"

"Unfortunately, Raza did not tick all the boxes and so the Contracts Committee decided he was not deserving of a contract this time round. The available contracts were awarded to other players who have consistently shown their professionalism and desire to represent their country."

Untill the issue resolves in time, Raza is unlikely to travel with the National side on their upcoming tours to South Africa and Bangladesh.
